In all honestly, I didn't think I would live this long ... I thought I would be dead by 70.
I wouldn't have scheduled this game if it weren't for Jud ... It means the world to me. He's getting older but he cares, and that's the way he was as a coach.
I said there's no way I can fly out with Gonzaga, go to the game and not root for Michigan State ... I'm a hypocrite, but not that big of a hypocrite.
He was a father to all of us ... One thing we found out quick is that, he's still Jud. So when he's cracking on you, he's on top of his game.
Sometimes he asks for my opinion and I give it to him
We've applied for citizenship in the family ... I walk out of every lunch with him with about 50 (set plays).
We hear Jud stories all the time ... It's great to have supportive guys that go way back with the program.
I'm no expert, just a guy still interested in basketball.
I was thinking they went in order. I thought New Mexico State was good, I thought San Diego State was a little better, and I think Vanderbilt's (the best) of our first three ... You won't find many teams that are playing three better teams than that to start the year. It was a little risky, but our guys...
It's hard to complain that you're not getting the ball when they're hitting threes every time down
At first, I was a little frustrated, I wanted the ball. But I looked up (at the scoreboard) and we were up 16-2. I couldn't really say too much.
I should tell you that it's just another game, but I've probably had (this game) highlighted on my calendar for months
What we talked about in the locker room was 4:30 Friday afternoon ... San Francisco's here. As you watch college basketball from around the country and the early returns - and (everyone) certainly has a feel for our team now - we better be ready to go for 40 minutes.
We just had to recognize where guys seemed comfortable with the ball. . . . When you put guys into position to be successful, then we, as a collective group, can make it work.
He's a heck of an offensive player ... We play him at (power forward.) With his size and skill, it's just a tough matchup for any post player. He can post up, he can shoot the ball with range, and he can also put the ball on the floor.
It'll be fun to see if we can attack it and get the ball to where we need to
This was a night that we got thoroughly whipped by a better team ... They're not that much better and hopefully when the dust settles at the end of the season, we will be significantly better.
With Pat here, and Pat was a heck of a player, Mick was always kind of the backup or the second point guard. It wasn't his show ... This year, he knows he's our point guard and he knows the coaching staff is going with him thick and thin. Until you can get that as a player, that pass that (the coaches) ...
We kind of can play off of them and it gives us more open looks the better that they play.
We were amped, we were excited
We pressed the issue a little bit too much, we were overanxious, took us a while to settle down and play our game.
We wanted to put a little bit of pressure (on them) but shots weren't falling ... It was hard to get them to turn the ball over or slow them down without making shots.
We made it tough for them to score and we wanted to keep them in front of us ... They're quick and long, so we wanted to make them shoot tough shots over a hand and no second shots.
