View Photo »We should be going to New York
I'm very disappointed ... I felt like we were the best team in this pod. I don't back down from that. I'm extremely disappointed.
That's a good win for us. That was a good basketball team we beat ... Obviously, they return the nucleus of a team that was a basket away from going to (the Sweet 16). I couldn't think of a better way to spend Thanksgiving than to go to New York City.
I've never been to the Garden
I'm looking forward to that environment.
I thought LSU picked up there aggression level in the last 10 minutes, and we didn't respond
I just believe the whole team kind of relaxed after the first half
We didn't respond like we should have.
It came down to the last five minutes, and they wanted it
I apologized to the team ... I told them I was sorry, and I was very remorseful and it was immature. I wanted to help. I felt like I wasn't out there as much as I should have been. But like I said, it's over now.
hasn't done anything for 10-12 weeks.
What do you think? ... Like I say, you've got to find a way. There's no excuses. No one feels sorry for you. No one's going to cancel any games.
We just gotta do what we can with what we have ... If I have to play 40 minutes, that's what I'll do.
Everybody knows those first five [starters]
She's a senior. She's our leader. She's our point guard ... She did exactly what she's supposed to do. The neat thing about it was that it sparked our other players. They saw her doing that and all of a sudden Porsha (Phiilips) is knocking down balls on defense and 'JJ' hit some big shots. Everyone fed ...
To be honest, it just makes me very proud to be where I'm from ... It means so much to me to have the chance to come back and play in front of so many people who watched me play for the Dade County Lady Wolverines. I always had such great support from everyone from Trenton, Ga., just like tonight.
Thanks for being a Dog Day
It's probably a little better than that
I'm probably being a little too hard on them. But I told the girls, if you're expecting a championship, then you're going to have to play like that all the time. You can't play in spurts.
We had not run our [press] in the last game or so, and I felt like we needed to practice it ... It was just to give us an opportunity to do something that we're going to need to have throughout the year.
Last game I said maybe we should get it in our minds that we should score a hundred ... We scored 41 and 40, so we didn't reach our potential. We had setbacks.
We're trying to get ready for what is ahead ... Coach [Fanning-Otis] has high standards. She stresses defensive pressure. She wants us to annihilate our opponents.
What is it? The BCS? The BSC? I don’t know
You know, you guys (in the media) know more than I do ... The only thing I know is we’re playing Michigan State this week. Don’t make a darn bit of difference. You guys speculate all you want. If we don’t beat Michigan State, none of that makes any ... none of it’s important. So I don’t waste time with ...
It’s something that’s in the back of our mind, but we’ve got to focus on Michigan State ... We can’t have the same thing that happened two years ago when we went out there. We could have gone to (a New Year’s Day bowl), but then we went out there and lost and ended up in the Alamo Bowl.
